I&#8217;m usually not a big fan of patriotic paraphanalia, but once I realized that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.janesassaman.com\/Jane_Sassaman\/janes_fabrics\/Pages\/Early_Birds.html\">Early Birds<\/a> line contained lots of red, white and blue this quilt immediately came to mind. The Blueberry Poka Dot and the Strawberry Checky Checks stand in for the stars and stripes.<\/p>\n<p>Its simply four flags surrounded by royal blue sashing and corner squares of the checks. We couldn&#8217;t resist stitching up some pillowcases to play along using our Pint Sizes Pillowcase pattern.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-tZr3h-U9C90\/T_HvcBEvBbI\/AAAAAAAABsA\/Jrg9LylbnT4\/s1600\/Flag+Quilting.jpg\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"640\" src=\"http:\/\/janesassaman.gloderworks.net\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Flag+Quilting.jpg\" width=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I wanted my flag to be optimistic, peaceful and feminine so I quilted it with 12wt. threads in wavy lines over the checks, crisscrosses over the dots and scollups around the borders.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-5oPkgsVGAvU\/T_Hxi5-IxTI\/AAAAAAAABsI\/Ef0oYjiv2u0\/s1600\/Check+1.jpg\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"278\" src=\"http:\/\/janesassaman.gloderworks.net\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Check+1.jpg\" width=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>It would be fun, too, to do the reverse with the Strawberry Poka Dots and the Blueberry Checks.<br \/>The back of my quilt is finished with the Strawberry Serinade fabric in the Blueberry colorway and trimmed with our last piece of the vintage Night Life (bugs) design from the Prairie Gothic line*.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/janesassaman.gloderworks.net\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Flag+Back.jpg\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/janesassaman.gloderworks.net\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Flag+Back.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>This quilt is the perfect size (aprox. 57&#8243;X 79&#8243;) for an after beach snuggling wrap or summer porch blanket. We are tempted to package this flag top pattern in kit form, depending on the responce we get from you.
