But a bit of energy was directed toward more digital embroidery experiments on my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.berninausa.com\/\">730 Bernina<\/a> with basic Artista software.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\">Synthetic threads are often used for machine embroidery because they are colorfast and strong enough to endure the wild action of the programmed machine stitches. These threads tend to be very shiny, so I have been tempted to try using shiny fabrics, too. So here I began with two silk doughnuts fused to a black cotton background. The sewing machine gives you the dimensions of your design, so I was able to center the thread spirals almost directly in the center of each silk circle.<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_9YjpnF9wtEg\/TBZLGdqXgYI\/AAAAAAAABAU\/qTHG2l66zd4\/s1600\/Embroidery+5+Detail+1.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"400\" src=\"http:\/\/janesassaman.gloderworks.net\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Embroidery+5+Detail+1.jpg\" width=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">The gray thread looks like silver and creates a wonderful glowing effect. By marking the background I was able to place the designs in almost perfect symmetry. These practice pieces have also allowed me to play with different interfacings and hooping techniques. Frankly, it is hard to stay away from the sewing machine these day, as so many ideas are floating by.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_9YjpnF9wtEg\/TBZLPPXO6NI\/AAAAAAAABAc\/xhMPPUCh5jc\/s1600\/Enbroidery+5+Detail+2.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/janesassaman.gloderworks.net\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Enbroidery+5+Detail+2.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<p>The spider was stretched so he was big enough to become the grounding element of the little composition.
